Our Mission

Gateway Organization Milwaukee is committed to bringing high quality instruction to every student in the metro-Milwaukee area who is interested in learning to play a musical instrument. We partner with schools to bring accessible band and orchestra programs to campuses and communities. Students who participate in our programs grow in confidence, poise, leadership, tenacity, and pride.

Our History

The Gateway Organization Milwaukee Band and Orchestra grew out of a similar program overseen by Pius XI Catholic High School for eleven years. When that program was disbanded two of its dedicated teachers approached the GoMKE Board of Directors with the proposal of a new partnership to further the same mission.

Over the past sixteen years the program now overseen by GoMKE has served more than a dozen schools and more than six hundred students from all over the metro-Milwaukee area. Students have gone on to play in their high school and college orchestras as well as the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Our Community

Gateway Organization Milwaukee is proud to partner with the Milwaukee Community Orchestra, founded in the fall of 2024 and dedicated to enriching Milwaukee’s cultural fabric by providing a collaborative musical platform for musicians of all ages and backgrounds.
